WHAT IS SOMATIC  COACHING ALL ABOUT

 

What does Somatic Mean?

​

“Somatic” simply means “body-based”. Many of us feel disconnected from our bodies as we've been conditioned to live in our heads. And to make things even more complicated, we live in a culture that implies we should just naturally know how to have successful relationships and how to deal with our wounds and emotions. On the other hand, the very same culture likes to dictate what is or isn't acceptable. But nobody teaches us these things….And once we start looking for advice, we often become even more frustrated and confused because people have different opinions…That’s why being best friends with your body is important, healing and so empowering. Attuning to your body’s physical sensations and cues through practicing awareness, embodiment and vulnerability allows you to develop a sense of self-empowerment and self-leadership. Forget someone’s advice! This is YOUR life and making decisions for yourself from a place of emotional maturity and strength is powerful. Your body is a magic powerhouse! Learning how to connect to it is an effective way to build useful skills to deepen intimacy, pleasure, self love and connection with yourself and others!


How is this different from Counseling or Therapy?

​

  While traditional therapy tends to focus more on the past and learning or healing from it, coaching is centered around personal discovery and development, allowing individuals to concentrate more on the future. Somatic coaching doesn't underestimate the importance of the psychological aspects of growth, but unlike traditional approaches, it’s geared towards getting more out of your head and more into your body - where healing actually happens.

Who does the work? Client or Coach?

​

  Every session is a collaborative experience between the coach and client, who work together. This is YOUR life! While I can provide all the yummy ingredients to make that cake you crave so much, the reality is that only you can bake it. I am responsible for the process and I will guide and support you through it, but ultimately, you are responsible for your desired results. “Change does not happen with time, change happens by choice.”

Who is this type of coaching good for?

  Somatic coaching is for open-minded individuals who don’t just want to learn and make a change, but who are willing to commit to the necessary process and do their part to actually make that change.

How long do I need to commit for?

​

  We are now living in a world of an instant gratification where we can acquire a lot of things in matter of days, sometimes even hours. This can often leave us impatient and full of unreasonable expectations when it comes to processes take require much more time to be transformative. However, it’s very important to know that nothing deep and meaningful happens overnight - especially change and growth! Acquiring new habits, making new connections and transformation, just like healing, takes time. I find that meeting once a week for a 12-week commitment is a powerful start. This gives us an opportunity to dive deeply into your heart and get to the core of what you need to understand in order for you to start making some changes in your life.

Can we have our sessions from anywhere?

​

  Absolutely! Thanks to the power of the Internet, we can meet online via Zoom, making it accessible to virtually anyone/anywhere in the wrold.
